Jump into our lesson program and explore your love of horses in a fun and safe environment! Wynbrook Farm provides riding lessons to students ages 7yrs and older in groups of 5-6. Our riding lessons include ½ hour supervised and assisted grooming and tacking up, and a full hour of riding instruction with a special emphasis on achieving a solid and correct base of equitation skills right from the beginning.
We alternate our lesson topics each week between flatwork and jumping, as we strongly believe that both disciplines compliment each other in the development of an all-around rider. During the “flat week” we encourage correct rider position, variety of figures and shapes to challenge steering and control, as well as other exercises that develop a rider’s ability to adjust the range in their horse’s stride. On “jump week”, we set up a variation of pole, and gymnastic exercises, or intricate jumping patterns that test a rider’s ability to navigate their horse over fences in correct rhythm, balance and accuracy.
Riding at Wynbrook offers a professional, structured and positive learning experience for all levels of riders. Wynbrook is home to 14 wonderful lesson horses and ponies that are equally safe and calm for beginners, but can also comfortably take students to competitions on the local Bronze Horse Show circuit.
All of our coaches are nationally certified in documentation, or proven competitive riders at the top levels of our sport. Our students can expect friendly, and knowledgeable staff, who strive to enhance a positive learning environment, as they discover the joy of horses!
12 Week Sessions
Our riding lessons are structured on a 12-week session, where the developed lesson schedule is maintained for the duration of the 3 months. Our lesson sessions are timed in accordance to the four seasons of the year, and we open for registration one month before the beginning of each session. Should you wish to join our team in the middle of a session, we occasionally have a spot available and would happily accommodate you if space allowed.
- Fall (September, October, November)
- Winter (December, January, February)
- Spring (March, April, May)
- Summer (June, July, August)
- Group Lessons – 1 hour $220/month (hst included)
- Small Group of 4 – 1 hour $260/month (hst included)
- Semi Private – 45 min $310/month (hst included)
- Lunge Lesson – 30 min $275/month (hst included)
It is recommended that all beginner lesson students at Wynbrook Farm start in Summer Camp, or in a “lunge line” program - this is a 30 min private lesson, where the coach is in control of the horse or pony via a long lead line. This allows for riders to safely learn how to navigate their horse and to correctly develop their balance and position, in a controlled setting. Likely after a few lessons, students are ready to join into a group lesson, where they will have the opportunity for more saddle time (1 hour of riding) and develop friendships with other students
Students with Experience
Should you have previous riding experience, it is encouraged that we arrange for a tour of the facilities and an “assessment” of your riding skills. An assessment is not usually any longer than 30 minutes, where we assess your balance, position, and general understanding of the fundamental skills that we emphasize here at Wynbrook Farm. We find this process very helpful in selecting the best fit for a lesson group that will continue to challenge your skills and allow the opportunity to becoming the best rider that you can be!
How to Register
Send us an email, and request to book a tour of our facilities and to meet some of our amazing horses and ponies.
At that time, you will need to have printed off and completed the “Lesson Registration Form”, and provide 3 post-dated cheques (dated the first of each month and in the amount that reflects your chosen group size) to secure your space in your requested lesson.
